Fabiano Caruana wins GRENKE Chess Classic 2018!

Fabiano Caruana is the winner of the GRENKE Chess Classic 2018, barely two weeks after his success at the Berlin Candidates Tournament – a very impressive feat. The players treated fans to an exciting finish at the LA8 in Baden-Baden as both crucial games, Vitiugov-Caruana and Anand-Carlsen, were fiercely contested encounters.

Black is ok as Caruana and Carlsen score two big wins

It was another thrilling day of chess at the LA8 in Baden-Baden as the two games we hailed as clashes of the day in yesterday’s report both ended decisively. Although both were playing with the black pieces, Caruana and Carlsen scored key wins against Vachier-Lagrave and Naiditsch respectively.

The calm before the last round storm?

It was another beautiful, sunny day in Baden-Baden and the peacefulness of the surroundings was reflected on the chessboard this afternoon. Three hours into the round four of the five games had ended in draws and Carlsen and Vitiugov were left to battle it out in the ‘Spiegelsaal’ on their own for almost twice as long.
